What Is

Nasal Bone Fracture Reduction?

Nasal bone fractures are typically caused by blunt trauma from sports injury, traffic accidents, falls, or physical assaults.
When the nasal bone receives a strong impact, the weaker side may break and shift, resulting in nasal asymmetry and obstruction.
Surgery is required to restore the proper alignment and function of the nasal structure.

Simple fracture

Complex fracture + Septum fracture

In cases of simple fractures, closed reduction is used to reposition the displaced nasal bone.
This is usually performed under local anesthesia and takes only 10 to 15 minutes.

Surgery is typically done within 3–7 days after injury for children and 7–14 days for adults. However, if there is no significant swelling, immediate treatment may be possible.

A splint is used for 1 week to stabilize and protect the nose after the reduction. Nasal packing may also be performed if needed.

When a deviated septum is present, septoplasty may be performed at the same time.

In complex cases involving multiple facial fractures, fixation plates or additional supports may be required.
